The Second International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities

Mimesis and Comparative Literary Hermeneutics

Dr. James Rice.

The paper contrasts classical Greek formulations of the concept of mimesis with traditional Chinese literary theory and practice. These traditions are then re-examined within the context of the philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer's work in literary hermeneutics and poetics.
