Framing Indigenous Identities in the Americas: Cases in the American Northeast, Southwest, and Guatemala

This 90-minute colloquium will present papers on the framing of ingenious identities in the Americas, with individual papers on 1) the resacralization of domestic space in Chajul after the Guatemalan Peace Accords; 2) the role of landscape in healing in Leslie Marmon Silko's Ceremony; 3) Landscape and Loss in the Work of N. Scott Momaday; and 4) and 5) 2 papers on the framing of indigenous identity in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.
