The Second International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities

Returning the Human to Humanity: Reconnecting to Our Physical Self

KT Huckabee.

Participants will experience a movement improvisation designed to awaken the senses (no formal movement training desired, required or necessary). Through a guided imagery improvisation, a variable of dynamic movement qualities will be introduced and experienced. We will trace the path of sensation experienced through a follow up discussion which will process the information gathered through the physical being.

Does physical/kinesthetic sense precede and/or dictate the emotional and intellectual sense? How can this be utilized to determine who we are and how we relate to and understand others like us, and different from us? How do we bridge to the world physically through our movement and is this related to how we are received and how we receive information from others?
