Beyond Persuasion and Then Some: Invitational Rhetoric and Rogerian Strategy
Invitational rhetoric is an alternative to classical rhetoric and the world of confrontational debate. As a mode of communicating, invitational rhetoric seeks to achieve understanding through the offering of perspectives and the creation of an environment of freedom, safety, value and openness. Invitational rhetoric implemented through the use of a Rogerian strategy has transformed the presenter's own public speaking classes into kinder, gentler gatherings where critical thinking skills and narrative imagination drive the speaking process.
