The Second International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities

Humanism after Theory

Prof. Michael Payne.

Most notably in my recent book "Life After Theory" I have been exploring the effects of critical and cultural theory on the current practice of the humanities and social sciences. This paper will examine one aspect of that project: what has come of humanism in the wake of theory and the critical examination of the human subject.
